What Is a RespOrg?
A RespOrg (Responsible Organization) is an entity registered with SOMOS that manages toll-free number routing on behalf of customers. Becoming a RespOrg gives DIPVTEL the ability to manage toll-free numbers for our customers and, most importantly, to set up a customer's number to route across multiple long-distance carriers.
What Does That Mean for Our Customers?
As a RespOrg, we can create "routing plans" that include multiple carriers, and calls will route to whichever carrier the plan specifies based on the customer's unique calling patterns — the carrier offering the least cost for that particular number wins the call.
The final result is a competitive rate for the DIPVTEL customer, based on least-cost routing created and loaded into the toll-free routing system operated by SOMOS, the FCC-designated toll-free number administrator.
What Other Benefits Are There?
If there is an issue anywhere in the US and a customer cannot complete a call to a toll-free number, being the RespOrg lets us immediately change the carrier for that number — and within minutes, the call processes successfully.
